TRAC 2021 New Year Report

This has been an extraordinary year for the San Francisco Bay Trail in Richmond! The City of Richmond (City) completed the long-awaited Bay Trail connection with Point Pinole Regional Shoreline, and over $4 million in grant funds were secured by the City and East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) to construct new and improved sections of Bay Trail. The Bay Trail’s popularity soared as an excellent place to refresh the mind and exercise the body with adequate width for social distancing.

The MTC release new statistics showing that bridge use by pedestrians and bicycles has increased dramatically. The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge had a high of nearly 12,000 bicycle crossings in May 2020, double the nearly 6,000 crossings in January 2020

The 36 miles of Bay Trail in Richmond offer a wide variety of options for walking, cycling and jogging. Bicyclists may ride all 36 miles in one day cycling the shoreline trail along Central Avenue through the many parks in Marina Bay, the Shipyard 3 Trail, the Ferry Point Loop encircling Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline, the Landfill Loop and Point Pinole Regional Shoreline as shown on the Richmond Bay Trail map. They also may traverse the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Trail to San Rafael destinations as described below. Here is a sampling of shorter loop walks for those walking:

Point Molate Bay Trail project receives $2.2M for completion

The Point Molate Bay Trail project has received the funding needed to complete its construction, which could be completed by the end of 2021, according to the Trails for Richmond Action Committee (TRAC).

Point Richmond Neighborhood Council

The PRNC meets every month. Its mission is:

  • To serve the people of Point Richmond in a non-partisan, non-commercial manner and to work cooperatively with local, state and federal governments.
  • To help residents determine the important needs and problems of their neighborhood by providing a place where ideas and information can be exchanged, problems studied, and actions planned.
  • To promote a spirit of enhanced community.
1st Wednesday of the Month at 7 PM

Pt. Richmond CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team program (CERT) is one of five federal programs promoted under the umbrella organization of Citizen Corps and is a critical program in the effort to engage everyone in America in making their communities safer, more prepared, and more resilient when incidents occur.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month, 6:30 pm social, 7:00 pm meeting, 54 Railroad Avenue, Point Richmond.

1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 6:30 PM

Richmond City Council

Regular City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Special meetings are held on the other Tuesdays of the month. The City Council is on recess during the month of August.

Meeting can be watched on line from the KCRT streaming service.

Point Richmond Business Association

The Point Richmond Business Association is a resource for West Contra Costa County business professionals and entrepreneurs.

The PRBA facilitates networking, provides cooperative marketing opportunities and protects the interests of the local business community.

All are welcome to attend the monthly business luncheons regardless of whether or not you are a business owner.

The PRBA meets the last Thursday of each month. Luncheons are usually at the Hotel Mac and mixers are held at various locations.
